Procedure
- 1
Pre-dissolve HA powder in water to make a 1% solution (ideally 24h ahead).
- 2
Weigh Phase A (water, glycerin, HA solution). Sprinkle xanthan gum while stirring to hydrate.
- 3
Weigh Phase C (Olivem 1000, CCT, jojoba oil) in a separate beaker.
- 4
Heat both Phase A and Phase C to 75C in a water bath.
- 5
Pour Phase C into Phase A. Blend with a stick blender for 3 - 5 minutes until emulsified.
- 6
Allow to cool to below 40C, stirring occasionally.
- 7
Add Phase D (panthenol, Vitamin E, preservative). Mix well.
- 8
Check pH is between 5.3 - 5.8. Adjust if needed.
- 9
Pour into sterilized containers. Label and date.
Tips & Notes
- •Target pH: 5.3 - 5.8.
- •This is an emulsion-you must heat and blend the oil and water phases.
- •HA solution should be pre-made: dissolve 1g HA powder in 99g water, let it hydrate fully.
- •Use a digital thermometer to ensure both phases reach 75C before combining.
- •Stick blender creates a smoother, more stable emulsion than hand stirring.
