Procedure

  1. 1

Weigh water, then add surfactants (SLSa, cocamidopropyl betaine, decyl glucoside) one at a time. Stir gently to avoid excess foam.

  2. 2

Add glycerin and stir until uniform. Warm gently to 50-60C if needed.

  3. 3

Sprinkle xanthan gum while stirring to thicken.

  4. 4

    Cool to below 40C.

  5. 5

Add Phase C and D ingredients (aloe vera extract, tea tree essential oil, citric acid, vitamin E, preservative).

  6. 6

Dissolve salt in a tiny amount of water and add last to thicken further.

  7. 7

Check pH (5.0 - 6.0). Adjust if needed.

  8. 8

Pour into sterilized squeeze bottles. Label and date.

Tips & Notes

  • Target pH: 5.0 - 6.0.
  • Stir gently when working with surfactants-aggressive mixing creates unwanted foam.
  • SLSa is NOT the same as SLS; it is much gentler and derived from coconut.
  • Salt thickens surfactant systems-add slowly to reach desired viscosity.
  • This formula is beginner-friendly because it doesn't require emulsification.
