Before you start
Identify the decision you need to make and gather the source values it depends on. Use current supplier documents, raw-material specifications, density or assay data, formula yield, and batch results where applicable. Calculator access begins at the tier shown below.
Choose a calculator
- Open Tools / Calculators. Start from the calculator directory or use a calculator action on a supported formula or batch.
- Choose the closest task. Match your question to the groups below.
- Confirm access. Free calculators are available to every account; Maker and Pro calculators require that tier or higher.
- Enter traceable source values. Keep the supplier document, formula, or batch result behind each input.
- Review the result in context. Treat the output as formulation support, not as automatic product approval.
Build and balance a formula
- HLB Calculator — Maker — estimates required HLB and emulsifier blends for an oil phase.
- Preservative Calculator — Maker — plans preservative concentration for a water-based product.
- Active Matter Calculator — Maker — balances surfactant active matter in a cleanser or wash.

The Density & Fill Calculator and Overage & Yield Calculator can use supported formula or batch context. When you open one from a record, confirm that the prefilled values belong to the formula or batch you intend to evaluate.
Use a specialty calculator
- Soap Calculator — Free — calculates NaOH or KOH, water, batch totals, and soap-quality metrics from oil weights.
- SPF Contribution Calculator — Pro — estimates the theoretical contribution of selected UV filters during development.
Apply calculator boundaries
- Verify inputs before relying on outputs. Incorrect assay, density, SAP, or supplier-limit data produces an incorrect result.
- Run required bench work. Solubilizer, neutralization, pH, and processing behavior must be confirmed in the actual formula.
- Complete required testing. Preservative planning does not replace challenge testing, and an SPF estimate does not replace validated SPF testing.
- Check current supplier and regulatory documents. Fragrance guidance does not replace the applicable supplier certificate or a compliance review.
- Record the decision. Save the relevant result or conclusion with your development or batch documentation.
Check your work
- You selected the calculator that matches the formulation decision.
- Every input has a current, traceable source.
- Units and concentration bases are consistent.
- Prefilled formula or batch values belong to the intended record.
- The output has the right bench, quality, safety, or regulatory follow-up.
If something does not look right
- If a calculator is locked, compare its minimum tier above with your current subscription.
- If formula or batch values are missing, open the standalone calculator and enter the verified inputs manually.
- If an output is extreme, check units, density, assay, concentration basis, and decimal placement.
- If the calculation and a supplier document disagree, stop and reconcile the source data before proceeding.
