AI Tools Overview

Overview

Formuley includes Ask Formuley, a connected AI layer designed to help you open tools, find records, answer product questions, and assist with cosmetic formulation work. Inside Making Mode, Ny gives warm next-step guidance from your live batch state. AI access is split into two layers:

• AI Concierge for all users: navigation, calculator links, product help, and safe record linking
• Premium Cosmetic Copilot for trial-preview and paid tiers: guided briefs, formula review, pre-batch checks, alternatives, troubleshooting, and deeper reasoning

Ny in Making Mode

Ny lives inside Making Mode and answers bench questions like:

• "Ny, what are my next steps?"
• "Ny, where am I in this batch?"
• "Ny, what do I need before release?"

Ny is designed to stay close to the batch workflow. She reads the current batch state, step progress, and checklist status first rather than relying on broad external AI retrieval.

Ny is a local-first guide inside Making Mode. On supported browsers, you can ask Ny by voice and hear her response out loud while the same answer stays visible on screen.

Ny is included wherever Making Mode is included. Business and higher plans add batch evidence capture such as photos and voice notes.

Accessing AI Tools

The AI chat panel is available from the sidebar. Click the AI Assistant icon to open the chat interface. From there, you can type requests in natural language such as:

• "Open the HLB calculator"
• "Take me to billing"
• "Review this formula"
• "Find a cheaper alternative"
• "How do I manage my subscription?"

Available AI Tools

Formula Generator

Describe the product you want to make, and the AI creates a guided brief for the product architecture, ingredient classes, test lanes, and validation checklist. It is meant to tighten your bench plan, not replace formulation review. See Using the Formula Generator for a detailed walkthrough.

AI Deformulator

Paste a product's INCI list and the AI estimates ingredient percentages, phases, and likely functions. This helps you build a starting formula from an existing product label and map it to your raw material library. See Using AI Deformulator for a complete walkthrough.

Soap Recipe Generator

A specialized guided-brief flow for soap makers. Describe the bar you want to make, and the AI helps you structure the oil system, target qualities, and validation checks before you finalize a recipe.

Cost Optimizer

Provide an existing formula, and the AI suggests lower-cost or simpler alternatives to explore. Suggestions are intended as controlled test lanes, not automatic substitutions.

Troubleshooter

Describe a problem with an existing formula -- separation, graininess, discoloration, instability, unexpected texture -- and the AI highlights likely causes, structural risks, and next validation steps.

Regulatory Q&A

Ask questions about cosmetics regulations, labeling requirements, ingredient restrictions, and compliance standards. The AI provides guidance and can point you to relevant product help or compliance workflows. AI responses are informational and should not be treated as legal advice.

Ingredient Suggester

Describe a desired product property (for example, "a natural emollient that absorbs quickly") and the AI suggests candidate material directions and next checks. Review supplier documents and bench results before treating any suggestion as final.

Usage Limits by Tier

AI usage is metered by plan:

Concierge requests that resolve directly to tools and pages do not consume premium formulation limits. Premium formulation actions have separate visible quotas by plan.

Ny is not part of the premium formulation quota. Ny stays tied to Making Mode and the live batch state instead of the broader premium review workflows.

If you reach a premium limit, Ask Formuley still remains available for navigation, linking, and product help. Limits reset automatically based on the quota window shown in-app.

Data Privacy and Security

Formuley takes your data privacy seriously when processing AI requests:

• Minimum-necessary processing. Formuley sends only the content reasonably needed to operate the AI feature you request.
• Minimal-context by default. Ask Formuley and Ny use the minimum safe context needed for the task instead of broad private-data retrieval.
• Explicit submission for narrow workflows. Some flows, such as document parsing, deformulation refinement, and marketplace publication review, process the file or content you intentionally submit into that workflow.
• Restricted formula details are blocked by default. Exact percentages, supplier details, and cost breakdowns are not broadly sent to external AI through general chat.
• No broad private-data retrieval. Formuley does not build a general AI search index over your private formulas, costs, or supplier records.
• No training on your data without consent. Your formulas, raw materials, and business data are not used to train generalized AI models unless you explicitly opt in or otherwise expressly consent.
• Short-term content retention only. Workspaces default to metadata-only AI logging. When a workspace enables AI prompt or response retention for support, stored content is kept only for a short-term window and removed from active logs within 30 days.
• AI disclaimer. Every AI response includes a disclaimer reminding you that AI-generated content should be reviewed and validated before use in production.

How to Use the AI Chat

1. Open the AI Assistant from the sidebar for Ask Formuley, or open Making Mode to use Ny inside batch production.
2. Type your request in the chat input field. Be as specific as possible about what you need.
3. The AI processes your request and returns a response in the chat panel.
4. Review the response. You can ask follow-up questions, request modifications, or start a new conversation.
5. Use the response to open the right workflow, review a formula, or build from a guided brief inside the product.

Tips

• Be specific in your requests. "Open the preservative calculator for this formula" or "review this lotion for preservative/pH fit" works better than a vague prompt.
• Use the Troubleshooter before scrapping a problematic formula. The AI often identifies simple fixes you might not have considered.
• Combine the Cost Optimizer with Profit Guardian alerts. When Profit Guardian flags a formula with declining margins, run the Cost Optimizer to find savings.
• Always review AI outputs before making a batch. AI suggestions are starting points, not production-ready formulas or final compliance advice.
