Create product specifications
Open Formula Specs from the correct formula record.
Watch the workflowWhat you will accomplish
Add a structured specification to a formula so reviewers can see its approved target as an acceptable lower-to-upper range, the measurement unit, and the test method.
This record is evidence for review. It does not automatically grant QA approval or release the product.
Before you start
- Open the formula that owns the specification.
- Confirm the target, acceptable range, unit, and test method with the responsible reviewer.
- Decide whether the result is required evidence for release.
The current Add Spec panel records Lower limit and Upper limit rather than a separate target field. Use the reviewed range that represents the target; do not invent a numeric range when the approved requirement is qualitative.
Add the specification
- Find Formula specs on the formula record.
- Select Add Spec.
- Enter the Spec label.
- Enter the Lower limit.
- Enter the Upper limit.
- Enter the Unit.
- Enter the Method.
- Set Required for release to match the reviewed requirement.
- Select Save Spec.
Add one specification at a time for pH, viscosity, specific gravity, appearance, odor, fill, or another reviewed requirement.
Check your work
- Confirm the specification card shows the intended range and unit.
- Confirm the method names the actual test procedure or instrument context.
- Confirm the card shows Release only when Required for release was selected.
If something does not look right
- If Save Spec is unavailable, enter a non-empty Spec label.
- If the card shows Method not specified, reopen the workflow and add the reviewed method.
- If a qualitative requirement cannot be represented accurately in the current range form, retain it in the controlled source document and ask Product support before treating the in-app record as complete.
