What you will accomplish
Set up one institution, manage its people and learning workflows, and keep review, policy, credential, and audit work inside the correct institution scope.
Before you start
- Open the intended school portal and confirm the institution name before changing records.
- Administrator surfaces require an enabled Education package. Pending setup can still open the setup flow; suspended or expired packages may expose only retained read-only surfaces.
- Admin access applies to the current institution scope. It does not grant access to unrelated institutions or ordinary business billing.
- Review Institution Home and setup
Start at /education/institution. Use the operating summary and setup actions to identify missing institution profile, branding, roster, class, policy, or credential work.
- Manage students and instructors
Open Students at /education/institution/students to search and review learner records. Open Teachers / Instructors at /education/institution/instructors to invite or manage staff coverage. Keep class and cohort assignments explicit so staff and learners see only their intended records.
- Organize learning operations
Use Classes for teaching spaces, Cohorts for intake groups, and Assignments at /education/institution/assignments for institution-wide assignment oversight. Use templates and defaults only after checking which classes and future records they affect.
- Monitor the Review Queue
Open Review Queue at /education/review-queue to see institution-wide submissions and review ownership. Reassign a review only when another authorized reviewer should take responsibility. Instructors remain the final decision-makers; automated checks and AI notes are supporting evidence.
- Set branding, defaults, and AI Policy
Use Branding, Education Defaults, Data Governance, and AI Policy under /education/institution. Record the institution's approved student-tool mode, AI boundaries, visible portal copy, and governance expectations before onboarding a full roster.
- Review portfolios, Certificates, and audit evidence
Use institution Portfolio and Certificates for approved, export-safe evidence. Credential evidence should not expose full formulas, grades, or private instructor comments. Use Audit for institution events and Data Governance for the current retention and access posture.
Check your work
- The institution name and portal branding are correct.
- Students and Teachers / Instructors are attached to the intended classes or cohorts.
- Assignments show the intended draft or published state.
- Review Queue ownership is clear and no unrelated institution records appear.
- AI Policy, Education Defaults, and Data Governance match the institution's approved operating rules.
If something does not look right
- If an admin route reports package inactive or read-only, check the Education package state before attempting another write.
- If records from the wrong institution appear, stop and confirm the current portal context; do not edit across institutions.
- If a staff member cannot see a class, verify their instructor role and class assignment.
- If a credential includes too much detail, remove private formula, grade, or comment content before export.
Next steps
