Overview

Formuley uses onboarding to personalize the first-run experience instead of dropping every new account into the same dashboard.

After email confirmation, the app sends you to /onboarding. When you finish, Formuley chooses your next destination based mostly on your saved experience level.

What the wizard asks

The current onboarding flow requires four answers:

  1. Your name
  2. Product types
  3. Experience level
  4. Primary goal

The app saves progress between steps, so you can come back and continue if needed.

Where you land after onboarding

The first destination is experience-based:

  • brand_new, beginner, and intermediate profiles go to /launch-pad
  • professional profiles go to /dashboard

Later sign-ins flow through /home, which resolves the best landing page again from onboarding state, plan, and workspace context.

What Launch Pad is for

Launch Pad is the guided setup workspace for first-run activation. It is designed to move you through the shortest useful sequence:

  1. Add your first raw material
  2. Create your first formula
  3. Log your first batch

Launch Pad also shows:

  • current setup progress
  • the recommended next action
  • starter-kit recommendations
  • quick actions for common setup routes

Starter kits and Journey

Onboarding can recommend a starter kit based on what you make and why you signed up. Starter kits live under /starter-kits and are meant to help you move from setup into actual product work quickly.

After the first-run phase, /journey becomes the broader progress surface for milestones, badges, and next-step recommendations.

Use this order if you want the fastest path to value:

  1. Finish /onboarding
  2. Open /launch-pad if Formuley sends you there
  3. Add raw materials at /ingredients/new
  4. Create a formula at /formulas/new
  5. Import an existing recipe at /formulas/import if you already have one
  6. Log a batch at /batches/new

Expected result

When onboarding is complete, you should know:

  • why Formuley sent you to Launch Pad or Dashboard
  • what the first three setup tasks are
  • where starter kits and Journey fit into the experience

Troubleshooting

  • If you expected Launch Pad but landed on Dashboard, the saved experience level was likely professional.
  • If you want the guided path later, open /launch-pad directly.
  • If you already have existing formulas, use /formulas/import instead of rebuilding everything manually.
